J. Geddes Parsons
Ged began his career in equity marketing at Merrill Lynch in New York City in the late 1970s. Later, he worked with his brother Bob at Drexel Burnham and Baldwin Brothers during the 1980s and early 1990s. Together, they formed Parsons Capital Management, Inc. in 1993.
Ged is research oriented, speaking regularly with financial analysts and corporate heads. He conducts in-depth analysis of the companies in whose assets our clients are investing, now or in the future. His focus on markets and methodologies is integral to the firm's successful track record of performance.
Ged has been deeply involved in civic and charitable endeavors. He is currently on the boards of the Fishers Island Club, the Fishers Island Utility Company, and the Pomfret School. Most recently, he was named to the board of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island where he serves as the investment committee chairperson.
He served on the board of the Providence Preservation Society for many years and received an award in recognition of his contributions to the organization's improved financial health. He has also been active at the Hope Club in Providence, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Gordon School, and the Community Preparatory School. He was deeply involved in the United Way of Rhode Island where he was the 2002 Alexis de Tocqueville Society chairman.
Ged attended the Providence Country Day School, and graduated from Deerfield Academy and Bucknell University.
